Smoke Testing to be Conducted

Smoke testing will be conducted by Keystone Consulting Engineers in the Township’s on-going efforts to address and reduce Inflow & Infiltration (I&I) into the sanitary sewer system.   The work will take place in the Eastern portion of the Township, specifically in the Basin 10 area, and will be split into 3 phases, beginning with Phase 1 in mid-September 2020.  Phase 1 will include the area from East Emmaus Avenue at Maumee Avenue and extending to Park Avenue and north up to East Susquehanna Street ONLY.  Door-hanger notices will be provided to residents and business owners at least 48 hours prior to the smoke testing in your area.  Your patience and cooperation during this sanitary sewer testing project are greatly appreciated.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Township’s Engineer, Keystone Consulting Engineers, Inc., directly at 610-395-0971.

Modified Drop-Off Site schedules will continue through September 2020

Both Township drop-off sites will continue to be open on alternating weeks during the month of September. Hours are: Monday thru Friday from 8am-2pm; and Saturday from 8am-1pm. Franko will be open the weeks of September 8th (the site will be closed Monday the 7th in observance of the Labor Day holiday) and September 21st. Devonshire will be open the weeks of September 14th and 28th. We will continue to assess the operation schedule beyond September and post appropriate notice. It is subject to change at any time, depending on circumstances.

Residents will have to show proof of Township residency (their most recent utility bill would be optimal) and addresses will be logged. Only 3 cars will be allowed on-site at any given time; only when one car leaves another will be allowed in.

As usual, the sites are open for residential use only; no landscapers or non-residential use will be allowed. All materials will be checked to ensure that they’re clean and not contaminated with other waste. Contaminated materials will not be allowed to be disposed of at the site.

In order to maintain appropriate social distancing, there will be no physical interaction between Township staff and the public. Residents must be able to unload materials and empty containers themselves. Residents must take all bags and containers utilized for the transportation of materials with them when they leave the drop-off site. Masks will be required to be worn to enter the site.

Please see the Township’s Coronavirus Statement for full details on all modifications.
