Salisbury Township Lieutenant

The Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners is currently seeking applications for the position of Lieutenant. 

The Lieutenant works under the guidance and direction of the Chief of Police to direct and manage subordinate officers and to assist in the administration of the department, currently consisting of 20 full-time and 1 part-time sworn officers and 7 civilian employees.  In support of or in the absence of the Chief of Police, he/she commands any of its divisions including, but not limited to, organizing, directing, staffing, controlling and coordinating activities of the Police Department.  The Lieutenant is an administrative position, not a member of the Collective Bargaining Unit, and works under the immediate direction of the Chief of Police. 

Applicants must possess a minimum of an Associate’s Degree and have at least ten years of progressively responsible experience in the police department, including a minimum of three years of supervisory or managerial experience, or have an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience. The candidate must be certified by MPOETC and possess a current Act 120 certification or be capable of becoming certified. The salary range is $114,000-$119,000 with an excellent benefit package; exact salary will depend on qualifications and experience.

Drop Off Center Operator

Salisbury Township seeks an operator for its yard waste drop-off centers at Franko Park and Devonshire Road for the 2024 season. The work schedule for the position will be commencing the first Monday in April through the last Saturday in November. The drop off centers hours of operation will be Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00am-6:00pm [NOTE: Hours are 10:00am-5:00pm only during the month of November] and Saturdays from 8:00am-1:00pm. Operations will alternate weekly with each site beginning with the Franko Drop-off site on Monday, April 1st and ending November 30th. The operator will be responsible for checking visitors I.D.’s to ensure residency, making sure only appropriate materials (per Township standards) are dropped off at the site for recycling and directing traffic. The position requires working outside, possibly in adverse weather conditions, and to have frequent interaction with the public as well as regular standing, walking and/or lifting of objects up to 50 lbs. Residents must be able to unload materials and empty containers themselves.
